A record 36.4 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport last year, marking a 5.1% increase on 2024.

The figure far exceeds the airport’s annual passenger cap of 32 million, a restriction imposed under a 2007 planning permission. That limit has been suspended by the High Court pending the outcome of legal proceedings at the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Airport operator daa said the 2025 total reflects continued strong demand for travel through Ireland’s main hub. The overall figure includes 1.7 million transfer passengers, down 3% on the previous year.

Dublin Airport handled 100,000 passengers or more on 215 days during the year, a 25% increase on 2024. December alone saw 2.7 million passengers pass through the airport, up 13% year on year.

Passenger numbers at Dublin Airport have risen by 46% since 2015. End-of-year figures show the airport facilitated 255,000 flights in 2025, a 5% increase on the previous year.

The operator also reported an improvement in punctuality for the fourth consecutive year, with 71% of flights departing on time, up three percentage points on 2024.

The top five destinations for passengers were London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Manchester, London Stansted and London Gatwick.
