Ryanair to Introduce 100% Digital Boarding Passes from November 12
Ryanair has announced that, starting November 12, it will transition to 100% digital boarding passes, eliminating the option to download and print physical paper passes. This change is scheduled to take place during the quieter post-midterm travel period to ensure a smooth rollout for passengers.
From that date, all passengers will be required to use the digital boarding pass generated in the “myRyanair” app during check-in to board their flight.
This move is part of Ryanair’s ongoing digital transformation, which includes the introduction of various in-app features aimed at improving the travel experience for its 206 million annual passengers, particularly during disruptions. Currently, nearly 80% of Ryanair passengers already use digital boarding passes.
Ryanair joins a growing list of industries—such as festivals, concerts, and sporting events—that have successfully adopted digital-only ticketing models.
Commenting on the update, Dara Brady, Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, said:
“To ensure a smooth transition for our customers, we’re making the switch on Wednesday, November 12th, a traditionally quieter travel period following the mid-term break.
Ryanair’s move to 100% digital boarding passes will deliver a faster, smarter, and more environmentally friendly travel experience—streamlined through our industry-leading ‘myRyanair’ app, which also offers helpful in-app features such as Order to Seat and live flight updates.”
