Ibec Survey Finds Sharp Rise in Workplace Use of AI

New research from business group Ibec reveals a significant surge in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace.

According to the study, 40% of employees reported using AI tools in their daily tasks as of July 2025 — more than double the 19% reported in August 2024. The use of AI in specific job roles also jumped from 12% to 33% over the same period.

The survey, which gathered responses from 800 workers, found that:

  • 80% believe AI is enhancing productivity,
  • 75% said it allows them to focus on other aspects of their roles,
  • 81% felt they could make better use of AI with more training.

However, the research also highlighted a gap in skills development: 27% of respondents reported receiving no formal AI training, and 83% expressed a need for further training.

The findings were published as part of Ibec’s ‘Work Just Got Smarter’ campaign, launched alongside new AI guidance aimed at helping businesses integrate AI across various functions.
